Bay to Bay Flotilla - June 23, 2012

The flotilla is part of Bristol’s support for the McNab/Braeside River Drivers festival. The festival celebrates the rich logging history of the Ottawa River, the industry and the legends created.  Period logging/lumberjack/voyageur regalia appreciated but not mandatory.

It has been a busy summer so far, right after the Studio Tour, I was asked to display my art at the Bay to Bay Flotilla in Norway Bay.  Shannon Purcell and I displayed our art in the park. There were other booths on the Norway Bay Pier.  I went out for a little while and took a few pics.

As a special feature for Norway Bay participants and observers, the W.D. Stalker, one of the last steam powered Alligator boats (a boat that can travel on land no kidding!) will be moored at the Norway Bay Pier for observation and Qs&As. As the Stalker is on loan from Simcoe this will most likely be the last time she is on the Ottawa River. Bristol’s Barb and Peter Haughton will be participating with their vintage
logging boats, voyageur canoes, and extensive knowledge of the Ottawa’s logging history.
