Day 4 - Private beach by the River

Rob Hinchley is a wonder.  Two workshops in one.  The morning was spent doing monoprints and in the afternoon he gave us tips on plein air.  Everyone had a blast.  I planned to spend the afternoon painting a Raven on my truck, while others went to find the perfect spot to create.  It was a beautiful day and many of us went for a swim.  The water was wonderful.  At 4 pm we packed it up and headed to Dale Shutt's for another wonderful potluck and showing of our art we had completed at the beach.  We also got to visit Dale's studio to see her wonderful silk artwork.  The week is going so fast.  Only one more day to go.

Day 3 - Artist Residency Week 2017

Day 3 back to the Stone School with a wonderful Mark Making Workshop with Karen Mackay.  We spent the morning leaning how to make marks with our right hand, left hand, eyes closed with all kinds of traditional and non-traditional tools.  What a fun time.  It was great seeing some buds who were on previous residency weeks.  Big hugs to Lucy and the Spencerville gang - Mary, Linda and Chris.  Supper was at Cafe 349 and we were not disappointed.  A chocolate fondue to boot.

Some tools of the trade.

I have to get me some of these.  I love it.  From amazon.

Day 2 of Residency 2017

Day 2 started off with an artist talk by Catherine Timm at the Stone School.  She showed us her lovely fibre art and explained the processes.  After another amazing lunch potluck we spent the afternoon learning about Shrine Assemblages with Kate Strickland.  I enjoyed this very much even though I don't usually work small.  It was a bit of a challenge for me but I liked what I ended up with.  Then off we went to the lovely Elaine's for potluck and were serenaded by Wayne, Glen, Richard and Linda.  By the way the salmon on the bbq was delicious.  I love Residency Week!

Potluck at Val's

Thanks Glen Hartle for taking the pic

Before the delicious potluck we marveled at the chainsaw sculpture demo by Peter Van Andrichem.

Looking forward to the rest of the week, the comaraderie, the friendships, the learning, the inspiration.
